GetJar, the world’s largest open app store with over 1.5 billion downloads, becomes the first leading app store to fully leverage social media in an app store. The new portal includes Facebook Connect, which allows users to share their app download activity and comments through wall posts and news feeds. They can also inform friends of must-have apps and what to steer clear of, with “like” and “dislike” buttons.

One of the main features in GetJar’s new mobile site is the implementation of Facebook Connect. This new feature is proof of GetJar’s desire to create new and innovative ways for consumers to discover applications.
Facebook connect allows you to keep track of not only apps you’ve downloaded but applications your friends have downloaded as well. You can also like or dislike applications that are then posted on your Facebook wall.
More information about Facebook Connect can be found at GetJar University and the Developer Blog.
Tutorial video – Facebook Connect
GetJar will begin rolling out a series of tutorial videos to provide a better understanding of GetJar’s products and services. Our first video is a tutorial video of how consumers can use “Facebook Connect” to download, share, and discover apps from one their most reliable sources, their friends.
You can view the video at our developer YouTube channel!
GetJar’s mobile site gets tabs, search, easier navigation and more
GetJar’s mobile site has also received a completely new redesign. The new site sports a new user interface designed to be more intuitive and take advantage of the social aspects of the site. Features include tabs, easier search and navigation.
